Is It Safe to Use RAM Sticks with Different Frequencies?

Hi Guys,

I guys I have 2x8GB 3466Mhz Rams installed in my PC and I found 2x8GB 3200Mhz Rams at a very good price.

My question is, will they work together? Will both pairs will run at different speed? Is it safe?

I have following configuration

gigabyte gaming k7 AX370
Ryzen 1800X

Traditionally, the answer is "Yes, you can mix RAM speeds" and the slowest of the bunch will dictate how fast all your RAM operates.

There is a longer answer to that question and it's over here if you want to read it

  • Ryzen can be finicky with ram, so its best to keep it identical if possible.

  • I use mixed DDR3. It seems fine thus far.

  • Yes, I have mix-matched memory running on my server right now.

  • It's safe, just don't overclock the sticks beyond what they're rated for. Overclocking RAM is done manually, so just set them to 3200Mhz and you'll be fine.

  • Yes, lower speed, and Yes

  • ryzen is tricky with rams

if the 3200 kit works on their own then should work in mix

  • no you might 'blow' the circuit on your computer motherboard… or CPU! haha, I'm pretending to be a techno-geek. :-)
