Great price. At the same time it’s a sad reflection of how a great game series was run into the ground.

  • What does this actually give me over walking into a shop and buying a retail version? Are the characters paid dlc because they seem like things that would be normally unlockable with play time.

    • I may be wrong but I believe there was never any meaningful DLC released for this game as it was cancelled after it bombed hard.

      • Yeah. The deluxe comes with more guns, skins and characters. Now idea if they can be unlocked, but for an extra $3 it’s not even worth worrying.

Not worth it, seriously, just don't do it.

    • $12 is totally worth it. Even with all the flaws, it still has solid mechanics and some decent bits.

No, it really isn't worth it.

    • Agreed, my kid nagged me a lot for this and I caved and bought it cheap from Amazon. A week later I noticed he wasn't playing it, he said it was awful and I was right. This may not seem like a big thing but this is the one time since he left kindy that he admitted dad knew best.

    • Really ? I did like Mass Effect 1-2-3 ( not the ending of 3, but the soundtrack was great )
      Did you play 1 - 2 - 3 or you just don't like the game / mechanics ?

      • Personally I played 1/2/3 and I agree that the end of three was disappointing but this is shallow and rushed. In terms of story it is just not interesting either. Hard pass.

  • Just a warning to all: EA likes to trick buyers into thinking they are buying the full game by calling it a "Deluxe" edition, so you think it includes all DLC.

    Nope.

And the remaining DLC is always several times the cost of the "game" (that is, the pieces of the game that they sell you as the base game, that have had the rest removed and labelled as DLC).

The "Deluxe" edition of Mass Effect 2 still requires over 34 USD of DLC for the complete experience, in 2018, almost 10 years after release. There is no complete edition available (outside of piracy of course, you can torrent the complete game in a few minutes).

This game has no DLC and never will.

    • The deluxe edition of ME2 USED TO need another $34 USD of DLC, now its only like $25 AUD after they released it as a proper bundle, same goes for ME3, you can get all 3 games and DLC for like $60-65 now when it used to be like $100+

Also there was never any DLC released for ME:A other than shitty preorder bonuses that were armour and the like.

I appreciate you were trying to help people but basically every bit of info you posted was wrong

Totally worth it. Everyone shits on this game way more than it deserves (especially after the updates).

Squadmates are pretty good. Lots of banter between them on missions and lots of talking with them on the ship. Overall i dont like them as much as say wrex, garrus or tali, but those guys had 3 games and years of time to become liked. I would say i like the characters in andromeda easily as much as i did anyone after ONLY ME1.

Gameplay and mechanics are far far better than any previous Mass effect and up there as one of my favourite third person shooters (or biotic-ers).

Graphics are good (seperate from animations, which are mediocre), other than every asari and turian looking the exact same (but different colour) the designs all look well done and pretty faithful to the previous trilogy.

Story im kinda half half, it was kinda cool and kinda bad at the same time, not sure. Feels kinda similar to ME2 honestly

side missions are similar to previous mass effects so not all of them are great, but there are actually some interesting ones. There are a lot, my play time was something like 110hours for one complete 100% playthrough, whereas even ME3 done to 100% with all DLC and mods that add content (there are a fair few) was something like 60hours

any way, those are just some of my positive and negatives of this game. But overall i am absolutely happy i played it, sure it wasn't as fantastic as it could have been but it was still good.
