NBN Plan in Metro ACT with No Contract and No Setup Fee?

Hi all,

I'm with TPG (ADSL2+) for the last 4+ years and now NBN is coming to my premise in ACT (metropolitan area). TPG is asking for either 18 months contract or 99$ setup fee to upgrade to NBN (ADSL2 connection will cease in 2 months). Mind you I have already paid for setup fee at this premise and the other rental place I was living before, getting locked into contract does not make sense to me either as circumstance can change in 18 months. I'm getting tired of this sort of practice where businessess shaft their loyal customers liberally.

Is there an NBN plan from a reputed ISP that has no contract and no setup fee? Bonus point if they have modem included as well.

        Would you even use 1TB? I don't think we ever have used more than 400GB and we thrash streaming, downloading VMs, Youtube on 4K, gaming, updating customers computers with Windows updates and even running my own web/file server. Stay away from unlimited ISPs as they saturate their network. SM have no lock in contracts, price matching, great value and speeds. Aussie based tech support, only had to call them once for a outage that was Telstra's fault.

    Aussie Broadband.

    They are generally the first choice anyway because of bandwidth and tech support - but they also don't charge a setup fee and only have month to month, no contract.

    Modems you will have to buy, but that's generally the case anyway. Make sure you know what type of NBN you are getting.

    Tpg are having a trial, free data capped at 1mbps after 1gb, only available in certain places (Kingston, cbd, braddon in Canberra)

        You need internet, the way you get it isn't part of the requirements, it's part of the possible solutions.

          Haha but they said NBN. Up to 100mbps vs 1mbps
