I have written a detailed review of the Uniden ULP-1000 Laser Pico Projector, that has been offered on CatchOfTheDay several times. I paid $300 for it when they last had it:

you know those projectors that are used in presentations, in schools, in some cinemas, that's what it is for
it's just like a bright light that shows the image on the computer, so instead of a large one that cost $1000+ you can get a pocket one for less.
it's best to use it when all lights are out so that it can be clearly seen better.
just like imagine watching the movies in broad daylight, that's why cinemas are enclosed and the lights dim out when the movie starts.
