Heard from a family member who works as a Manager at a Kmart in Melbourne. Staff have been instructed to clear the shelves because they are not selling. The space freed up will be replaced with homewares and pet goods.

I guess they can no longer compete with all the counterfiet copies sold at the markets by bikies.

Physical media is so redundant at this point, I'm surprised they stocked it this long.

I was at Batemans Bay Kmart and everything dvd and cd related was being stripped off and put into clearance bins.

They stopped selling video games years ago, the writing was on the wall then.

If only we had a nation wide infrastructure of high speed fibre cable to each househol….

It’s being built as we speak.

Hmmm. Seems logical but wouldn't it be better to just roll out the new technology to the node and then use ageing copper wire to take it from the node to the house? Who needs 100mbps - it's crazy talk? The stupid voters are only watching netflix, they will not notice the difference

      • 100, why be greedy?

        I pay for 50Mbps…currently getting 10/3.

You are indeed the suppository of all wisdom ;)

        • @chumlee:
I also purchased the internet. I still have it on a CD somewhere.

        • @Speckled Jim: ''suppository of all wisdom''… not sure if serious

        • @CzarZ: Well you could always google it to be sure.

      • Poor people don't use the internet… or was that cars?

they used to sell blu-rays $7 each, now they sell them the same or more than any other shop (jb hifi, big w etc..) if you refuse to lower your prices now and then, its not unusual that most stock will stay on the shelf, I still went around to see for any $4 dvd was interesting enough to buy…

  • Well I agree cat. We went yesterday and were a little disappointed. But I found a bitchin t-shirt for $4!
