Which should I get? Torn between the two as the 2017 looks amazing but the price is shocking. However I'm not too keen on the touch bar … some advice would be greatly appreciated!

It's not so simple, there are a lot of people who prefer the 2015 model over the newer ones due to the touch bar, keyboard, and USB C ports on the newer one, as well as a price difference. Meanwhile, in terms of basic hardware power the 2015 machine is still good enough for nearly everyone.
Yep, bought a 2017 MacBook Pro (non-touchbar) and the USB C drives me up the wall; can’t use my old DVD drive (non-Apple) because it’s not USB C compatible :/ have to use an adapter for any USB drives. It’s really irritating TBPH. It’s a nice computer (the screen is nice), the track pad is pretty generous (but think they all like that anyway). But that damn USB C is annoying.
New? Second Hand? Refurb?
Battery life is important, 3 year old battery will have wear and tear on it.
Price is also a massive factor
wait, the 2017 keyboard is horrid.

I'd get the 2015 if it was a steal, i snagged my GF a top spec 15" 2015 for ~900 during an ebay 15% off everything deal by getting an offer accepted for a private sale
Wait to see if any new models are announced at WWDC next week. This might trigger some price reductions as places clear stock.
Buy the 2017 one. Why would you buy a 3 year old computer. There is no point to that…
