Are there any plans that still include international SMS?

I've been on an old TPG plan for a while. It's decent for what it has but they've been sending out emails about a significant data upgrade and I thought I'd shop around.

I was surprised to find that although just about every plan now offers unlimited national calls and SMS, just about none of them include international anymore. Even the ones with 100 international minutes charge exorbitant rates per SMS.

I'm looking in the <$30 range, but open to higher. Very light calls/SMS (if anyone even does credit anymore), need international SMS, and otherwise maximal data. Not fussed about network.

The usual suspects don't seem to do it: TPG, Aldi, OVO, Kogan, Vaya…

Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Currently:

$18/month
$550 "credit" that can be used for national and international calls, SMS, MMS
1.5GB data

    • Thanks, that looks pretty good. I thought TeleChoice wasn't around anymore!

Instead of international SMS, why not use WhatsApp or Messenger?

    • I do use messenging apps but sometimes the recipient doesn't see them. Something about their smartwatch. So, for now, SMS is needed :\

      • All this for one person who has a dodgey smart watch? lol

  • Why do you even need international SMS?

  • What country/countries are you texting?

    • Mostly (only?) USA.

        https://www.belong.com.au/mobile/international-and-national-…

Read this. $15 per month for Unlimited Calls & Texts within AU and 36 selected countries (includes USA) and 1GB a month of data. Though a good thing about Belong is that you have unlimited data banking. Also, you can get data relatively cheap on Ozbargain classifieds.

        • Hm, between this and TeleChoice, TC seems to be the cheaper for what you get (no need for +$5 for SMS). The data banking is tempting, though.

@elusive: Its $10+$5, so $15 per month while TC is $18.

Good point. Sorry, I was looking at the higher tier and got confused ($25 on 12mth with TC and Belong. Also $15 on 12mth for the low TC tier).

I'll have to see whether 1 GB is enough, I guess. Thanks!

        • @elusive:

Belong data is cheap. And can be free as well.
