Recommend Car Battery Jump Starter

My Camry is supposed to be able to auto turn off the headlights if I forgot to turn it off automatically. But that doesn't seem to work anymore for whatever reason. In result it has been few times I found myself with flat car battery. Now I am thinking of getting battery jump starter so that when that happened I don't need to wait for RACQ to come.

Looking at this from Kogan. Wondering if anyone has used it and can share some feedback.

Or if you can recommend one. Preferably ones that don't cost more than $150

Thanks.

  • I don't know what to look at in this product but do I need something bigger like this? https://automotivesuperstore.com.au/battery-link-js900

  • This one seems to have good reviews in Amazon US which doesn't ship to Australia. Found it on eBay with very reasonable price:

$10 cheaper on their other listing. Combine with 5% off coupon PULL5 to bring it down to $75.99 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/112803408330

Be wary of this powerbank though, one Amazon review says it's only 6000mAh not 18000 as advertised.

When I first read the specs I was doubtful. 18000mAh capacity, really! That would have been a lot of the ubiquitous 18650 cells in a 12 volt configuration.
Alas when I received the unit its labeling says 66.6 Watt- hours. That's a little more meaningful and shows the half truth behind 18 amp-hrs. Here's the deal.
Inside the brick are 3 Li-ion cells in series. Each of the three 3.7 volt (nominal) cell has 6000 mAh capacity, hence when adding all three you get the 18,000 mAh.
However since the output is 3x3.7 volts = 11.1 volts, the total capacity 6000 mAh at 11.1 volts or the stated 66.6 watt-hr rating. Quite misleading me thinks.

    • That one was on special on Amazon AU a couple of weeks back for $57. Now $85.

I can recommend this one, which popped up as deal on OzBargain. Car Jumpstarter - 4 CYL $31.99 (was $79.99) and 6 CCYL $39.99 (was $99.99) @ Supercheap Auto

Maybe it will turn up again sometime, or subscribe to Supercheap.

    • small and handy, but can't get the usb to output >1000ma.

    • Thanks … I will subscribe and see if it will be on sale any soon.

Have a look at the NOCO GB40, or just turn your lights off before walking away.

    • This. Noco GB40 very reliable junk starter, price is well worth $149

Not sure if that's a typo or you meant to be sarcastic with the "junk" ;)

        • My bad! Meant to say jump haha.
Models up incluing GB70 can use the official wall adapter to charge faster but you may use your standard mobile usb adapter too~ it will just charge a little slower.
Bought mine from this seller as they've sold the most on eBay with many positive feedback. If you check the items sold history, you can see that they sell more than 1 every single day cause the jumpstarter is so reliable and well built. Use coupon PULL5 to bring down price to $136.75 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/151841953692
