Which Filter to Buy for a 95L Aquarium?

Hi all,

Trying to setup an aquarium and need some suggestion about the filter to use. The aquarium is 95 L and I plan to keep around 4-5 gold fish in it.

I got the aqua one 104F initially, but the water flow regulator on it didn't work and the water was always coming out at maximum speed. I had to return it.

I also saw a smaller version of aqua one and fluval filters (U series).

Can anyone advise which one shall I go for? Aqua one 103/4F or Fluval U3 or U2?

  • 95l is not huge, I've used the filters that hang over the edge before. Something like this https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Aquarium-Power-Filter-Waterfall-…

Also provides a nice background water noise to calm everything down. Otherwise either of the fluval's would be OK if really wanted an internal filter.

Used eheim Most my life. Hasn't broken down or given my trouble

    • Thanks. I can get a staff discount through one of the pet shops, but they don't sell Eheim unfortunately.

I believe that each goldfish needs about 40L. We have 6 in our 210L tank.
Maybe research the space each fish needs before settling on a tank size.
You can buy great second hand tanks, completely setup, for a fraction of the new price.

    • Thanks. I have an old tank that I used to have, but that was set up with an under gravel filter. The filter etc are long gone now, but I managed to keep the tank in a reasonable condition.

I have 10 gold fish in a 900L tank. With an eheim pro. Eheim are the best (says me)
I would say go for a hang on back filter if u can. And with gold fish always do atleast 1 if not more water changes a week. It helps them grow faster (and also not die)

    • Thanks for the tip.
