Any Natural Gas Heater Deals

my good fellas and ladies of Ozbargain,

Winter is here and temperatures are getting rather cold in the mornings and night, has anyone come across good natural gas heater deals or discounts.

usually I see the likes of good guys and Bing Lee have these seasonal deals before summer or winter for appliances but didn't really see any for heater this year.

and any one that has any particular model that they recommend.

If you're talking about wall gas furnaces, according to my gasfitter the new ones are rubbish and break down all the time and are expensive to fix. Better to get an older second hand one. Maybe ask your local gasfitter for advice on the matter? They may or may not be of the same opinion.
I just got my old one replaced, as it was a model recalled in the 90s that could explode in a big fireball and burn the house down. My gasfitter sourced me a better second hand one and installed it for me yesterday :)

    • I was looking at one of those portable natural gas heater not flued. they are all at the moment about the $1000 - $1200 mark from Rinnai

      • They are dangerous though, with the carbon monoxide emissions - if you have children, pets, or elderly people and/or the room isn't really big. You can't see it or smell it and then you pass out then you die.

        • interesting read thanks for that,

just noticed a lot of retailers say those products are unavailable to VIC, TAS, and SA. they have different laws regarding those heaters…. hmm

        • @Archi:
The modern rinnai heaters have safety cutout sensors
They need to be checked regularly, but are safe, the older heaters, un serviced and in a unventilated room are very dangerous.
The problem is people with limited budget keep using old dusty un serviced heaters and shut all the doors in the house to keep the heat In one room.
