Hey, looking for a usb modem for mobile broadband. Don't want to spend much on it. The ones from Officeworks unlocked?

  In general no they aren't. You're better off finding a deal for a prepaid one.

  what did officeworks say when you contacted them to ask if they are unlocked?

  These are unlocked, and simple to use. Officeworks and similar stores stock them, occasionally on sale
