1st post, please be gentle. Was looking at beard trimmers to replace an old trimmer. Was going to wait around for a Wahl to go on special but saw this.

Hope this helps someone.

  • I commented the same a couple of days ago, but the deal was deleted:

Don't you think that this is quite a big trimmer?

    Philips < Braun?

  • I paid $80 for this a couple years ago. Good deal but there are better trimmers

I have this trimmer. It's rubbish.
Takes several times longer than my previous cheapie corded model, and leaves a patchy looking job.

I went with this bargain posted a few days ago by a ShaverShop rep. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/381970#comment-6014348.

Use Shave10 and shipster for $39 delivered. Currently $129 at Myer.

I bought this trimmer when it was apparently half price 18 months ago when I was away in Melbourne and got desperate. It pleases me that I can now tell people how much it sucks. The trimmer itself when using without a guard cuts ok, but the guards suck big time, especially the one with the 10 stage dial. Unless you have a beard like Gen Fu or Charlie Chan, it's not cutting anything. It's like rubbing a piece of plastic against your beard, makes it useless. This is because the tines are as wide as the gaps. It was clearly designed by a hairless baboon.

On top of that, it's always mostly dead when you go to use it, pretty sure it has old ni-mh batteries in it, not the low self discharge type either. Suck number 2.

Next is the price, for a trimmer that works this bad it's way over priced. At the $50 I picked it up for it was very disappointing, I really should have sent it back but I felt weird sending back something I'd cut hair with, and I really wanted it to be good. Unfortunately it wasn't. There's better trimmers for under $20 from Aldi. I won't even compare it to my made in USA Wahl hair clipper, I just use that for everything now.

Sorry OP if that sounds harsh, you have actually found a price as cheap as I have seen this anywhere, but realistically even at this price I can't recommend this to anyone.
