[Qld] Sony 55" KD55A1 OLED TV for $1995 from RTEdwards

610

A friend of mine just got a killer deal on the 55 A1 Sony OLED from RTEdwards. They must be burning their stock out to make way for the new range. Thought I'd share here so everyone can get on board.

      OzBargain road trip?

  • Damn that's a great deal!

  • That’s a cracker deal!

  • I don’t see it on their website (I checked it on mobile)

    • didn't see it on full page either….which makes it awkward to price match…..if only

  • Wow.. I highly doubt any store will price match that!

You must like shopping at Kathmandu

        • +1

I dont get it? Is that suppose to be a joke?

        • +1

          @TomGum:
Kathmandu has a reputation for dramatically over-pricing items to build an inflated perception of high worth but then regularly offering enormous discounts. While we all fall into these traps it’s important to remember that “normal price” alone isn’t a valuable indicator of value when assessing a bargain.

        • @LoopyLou: not sure why someone downvoted you..lol so true about Kathmandu

  • Any deals on the 65?

  • Ex-rental ?

    • Curious on this as well

    • Repo ?

      • Invoice classifies the product as new

  • How does this compare to the LG B7?

    • Yeah, that's the one I'm keen for, as well.

      • After 15 minutes reading there isn't much that splits them performance wise, but at the same price I would go the Sony.

      • I just got the LG B7T on ebay last week, was $2k including delivery using a 20% discount promo code which they seem to have pretty often. Highly recommend it, the picture is stunning, the UI is great, remote control is cool too. Apparently the sound is a bit average, but I haven't tried the internal speakers.

        • Yikes you do know is was $1699 at xmas time..

        • @solidussnake: And really hasn't been there since. $1900 odd with ebay 20% sales but the boxing day sale was a once off.

        • @solidussnake: yeh I did see that somewhere when I was doing some research before buying, but I really wanted a new TV and was getting tired of constantly checking for sales every day and honestly I'm so glad I just bit the bullet and bought it as I am so happy with it. The picture is just beautiful. I don't think I could wait out till Xmas/boxing day sales. When I get something in my head that I want to buy, it just consumes me, researching, reading forums looking for sales etc.

The Sony is better at image processing and upscaling. Refer to:

This guys reviews from that link are great, I watched a lot of them before buying my oled, he really knows his stuff.

Had a look at both LG B7 & Sony A1 in store at RT Edwards. Sony had image burn in while LG didn't seem to have similar issue. Sales rep also recommended LG as well. I'm looking for 65" otherwise LG B7 could've been discounted further from $1995.

          thanks mate

      • One of the Beenleigh stores.

The receipt has the code: BLH

        • Not only that, but it has an address: Tenancy GO33 Beenleigh Marketplace, 114-118 George Street, Beenleigh.

    • Which JB is it?

Did he offer the price match solely based on that photo of the RTEdwards invoice?

Please let us know how it goes.

Please upload the receipt if it happens.

      • Just went of invoice

        • any updates with JB?

        • no luck said way undercoat I rang head office Sony sent them invoice confirmed it’s genuine sale told me they carnt drop prime but in 3 weeks Sony clearance sale as new models out

  • The new 2018 series has a lower RRP at $3995 compared to this one which was $4995? anyhow still a great deal.

    • Good to see OLED coming down in price, they're great displays.

MicroLED will hopefully replace it in a few years, they're pretty similar but MicroLED should have less risk of burn in due to not using organic materials. It'll likely cost a heck of a lot more though, because it takes longer to produce.

You likely won't get burn in on an OLED TV anyway, it took my phone 2 years for the status bar to burn in along with the top browser bar with the url etc and nothing else has burnt in yet.

anyone tried oxley RT Eds store ?

People not interested in TV's, still click on a consumer website and specifically click into a TV advert, just to say they don't watch TV, these days?

    • yeah , better than your puny phone & tablet

    • +1

Personally, I don't even have an aerial connected to my TV. A large TV is great for gaming and watching my 8TB of shows and movies though. Sadly, nobody makes 55" 4K computer monitors, but there's a lot of competition in the TV sector.

    • Use TV for Netflix, chrome cast, YouTube and ps4 etc!?

  • Man that is a great price completly destroys the LG at that price range.

An update on this one: I rang multiple stores, all of them have it at $4195. One of the Beenleigh stores is closing down and they dont still have it at that price. They only 8 have units in Qld, 7 of them are floor stock (display units) and 1 in the warehouse.

I rang the store on the receipt and just got told that the invoice updated here is fake! he knew immediately why I was calling up and told me not to bother with it.

    • Thanks for the update

    • if thats the case then this "deal" has too many upvotes

      • +1

Yep! Maybe the store staff are holding on to units for themselves since they have so few units in the company.Or maybe they are telling the truth about the invoice being fake!

I rang the HN around the corner from where I live, the salesman was surprised, but he was nice enough to check with his manager to see if they could match it. But he came back and said that his manager couldnt find anything on the RT Edwards website and declined to match it.

Spent an hour convincing the wife this morning to buy the tv possibly today if this deal was true….. for nothing :/

  • Docket looks fake it's got a delivery of WA (when available?) And no payment. I've called a few places no one will agree to that price. Dont waste your time.

  • This is a fake quote. It is by no means available. If you want this kind of price you will have to wait until the A8F, the successor is readily available. The A8F is cheaper - at RRP - and provides better features/performance, so retailers will want to get rid of the stock ASAP.

  • Excellent price if true. I could even learn to live with the lean back angle on the TV for that.

  • I'm waiting for the an OLED with the latest HD I so you can use all the features..

  • So your mate gave you his receipt?

Was this before or after it was photoshopped?
