David Jones Deliberately Block Some Purchases with Good Total Discount Values Using E-Gift Card and Cash Back?

Hi all,

Has anyone ever had issue buying a discounted product on David Jones with discounted eGift-card and cash back from cachrewards?

I've been trying to buy a Dyson vacuum cleaner with my 10% off egift-card and cash back from CashReward. At a time (last week) when cash back was 10% when I added the V8 Absolute to shopping bag the price would restore itself to full price in the shopping bag, which meant I couldn't buy it at discounted price.

Today I tried again with the Dyson V8 Animal, when paying by egift-card it says my gift-card doesn't have value while I'm pretty sure it does. Tried to check out the giftcard value on David Jones website it says there is an error happening.

I start to think David Jones deliberately blocks some of purchases with multiple discount payment methods. A bit pissed off as I contacted them via their website but never heard back from them (even though they said they would contact me). I'm absolutely fine not to buy anything from David Jones but they need to make things clear so that I don't think of buying from them from beginning. Now I have bought the gift cards and have been wasting time on this.

    sounds more like an issue with the gift card, rather than some sneaky blocking process by David Jones.

    Try contacting whoever issued you with the egift card to find out.

      Just tried again with a random giftcard number. It gives the same error so maybe issue with David Jones
      If the gift card is invalid, David Jones would say it’s invalid and if balance is 0 it should say balance ia 0 then?

    Not directly related but their website has been having many problems since the update.

    I tried to add a Rodd and Gunn jacket to the cart. It shows the discounted price when not logged in and shows the full price when logged in
    Go figure.

    The one time I ordered from DJs online it was because I had an Amex offer. I went in through CashRewards and it registered the click but DJs denied me the CashRewards credit. I contested it but CashRewards said they were within their rights to refuse.

    It's their damn new website. It's absolutely f-ed.

    Try checking out with a guest account if you previously did this logged in.

    Please treat this gift card as cash.

    Now they reject take the cash, is this a sign we might see another Toys r us/Dick Smith.

    I am having the same issue online error "Balance unavailable" at check out or when I use the online balance checker I get error: "An unknown error occurred”. I have been trying all week to buy a bag, no local stock so I can't even go in store to buy it. Yes my eGift card is a discounted voucher 8% off through Suncorp benefits…

    Gift Cards apparently work online now.

    Also there's no way the website can tell whether your gift card was obtained at a discount such as through a workplace rewards program …
