Three - Refer a friend

Hi guys,

I am with Three so if you are thinking about signing up give me your details so I can "refer a friend" and we will both get a credit on our bills.

        fair enough.

tbh ive heard 3 is fine in major cities, just when you leave the city centre it goes really crap :P

I've been seeing more and more negative reviews on 3. They used to be good where there's coverage, but from my personal experience, their quality have gone pear shaped.

My partner and I have been with them for over 5 years, and have found them to be quite reliable. We live reasonably close to the city.

However about 4-5 months ago, both of us started noticing degradation in their services. Constant fluctuations in signal strength (1/5 bar most of the time, when it was previously 3-4 bars) and call dropouts, both at work and at home. We tried different handsets, but that didn't help. Been on the phone with their customer care many times, but there was nothing that they could do to help apart from the repetitive troubleshooting. Apparently, this is a common report on whirlpool.

I can only speculate that this is related to the merger with voda. I suspect this may be an issue with 3 roaming onto voda's 2G network as priority to Telstra's network, but who knows.

Luckily our contracts are expiring in around 4 months time. We'll be moving providers.

        • Same experience with me, whole family was with 3 but since about 6 months ago, there's definitely been a drop in quality.

Everyone in my family slowly moving to telstra as soon as our contract expires, it might cost a bit more, but good to know i can make a phone call anytime and anywhere without it dropping out. Also using 3G without worrying into "roaming zone" and getting stung by a huge fee.

At least 10 people I know have moved to telstra in the last few weeks and couldn't be happier(I live in rural area, so yes 3 was horrible for me).

My 2year contract with 3 ends in 13 days.. awesome.
I've actually found them to be pretty good for my needs.

Probably going TPG.. no contract $19 for $330 any network.. 1GB/month.
    tpg( http://www.tpg.com.au/mobile/plans.html)
with no contract.. may as well see how they go for me.
