Looking for 40-42 inch TV - Thoughts on Palsonic PT4035SB Full HD LED TV with Soundbar Style Speakers

We're on the lookout for a new TV as we're sick of ours distorting at moderate volumes and just showing its age.

I saw this palsonic one at JB. I know it was never worth $598 but the sale price is quite tempting especially with the 5% off

By all accounts the kogan and aldi ones have really poor sound, and I was hoping this 'soundbar' might actually sort that out.
It suggests 20W output which is the same as an LG for double the price.
Brightness seems poor but contrast ratio ok?

Any thoughts would be great!
Basically I'm on a budget of around $300 and the choice is something like this, a kogan or aldi one, OR a better brand but second hand.

  • This is well worth the $$ at less than $300.

Ignore the HDR icon overlayed on the image, they stuffed up.

Otherwise looks pretty good. If you check one in-store, it might be hard to judge the sound. Have a play and do a factory reset if possible as it might be in "store mode" where it's maxed out and super-saturated. Try Home mode if it has one. It's a truer representation of how it will look in practice.

Ah well. I went for it. With 5% coupon and 5% discount gift cards it was $285 delivered.

Will post back with a review of sorts.
The specs suggest that it won’t be that bad. And I have a 2012 series 6 Samsung 32 inch that to me is pretty awesome, so im hoping it compares pretty well with that

It's not going to blow your socks off, but it will be better than you think, I reckon.
