New Connection Issues with Opticomm/DCSI

Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone can help.

My new connection at an Opticomm estate isn't working. After substantial troubleshooting DCSI claim Opticomm believe this to be a router problem.

However, even when I connect directly to the ont via Ethernet I cannot connect. So obviously not a router problem.

DCSI use pppoe authentication. All credentials are correct.

Has anyone been through a similar situation?

It seems painful that Opticomm own the network but won't speak to the consumer about problems with it. DCSI, for their part, appear to be doing what they can but they are shackled by Opticomm.

How can I compel Opticomm to pull their finger out and fix whatever the issue is…?

  • Shouldn't you be bringing it up with your service provider?

    • Yes, but the buck is always passed as a fault with Opticomm. Hence, nothing they can do except wait for a resolution from Opticomm who claim it to be things it isn't.

The issue is that they suggest a solution/test, this had to go to the ISP who then relay it to me. I do it, relay to ISP and they feed back to Opticomm. It's ridiculously cumbersome.

  • When you say you're testing with a direct connection to the ONT and it's not working, are you using PPPoE on the direct connection?

    • Yep. Opticomm came out. It worked for him. Not for me.

I ended up switching from DCSI to iiNet (who use ipoe). It was setup in a couple of hours and worked first go.
