Car Next Door - $30 Credit if You Borrow a Car

Do I need to let my neighbour know I'm taking it?

  • +1

    can't rent out shitboxes

  • I would feel violated having a stranger drive my car. I wonder if others will feel the same and it won't take off

    • +5

I think it has already taken off….these guys are turning over $1M a year

    • +4

Really? Violated? It used to be to violate someone you had to stick a finger up their bunghole

Now its a stranger, paying you money to drive your car

  • +1

I've got a few friends who have their cars signed up to this. Never had any issues.

    • +1

How much do they roughly earn?

      • heard from a friend that they don't earn much but enough to cover for fuel, insurance, registration costs + a little extra. also depends on the type of car and area the car is in

        • +2

Then that is a complete and utter waste of time then, isn't it?

        • @llama:

Not if you didn't need the car anyway. Most people can find alternative ways to work for the day or two that it's away. Seems like a good idea.

  • What if someone rents me a broken car/potential glitch ?
What if my car got written off ?

    • Car is inspected….and they have their own insurance to cover drivers

  • I have Norton blocked the site and have "dangerous site" warning across my screen when I hit the "Go to deal" link, anyone got that too ???

    • Nope, works like any other site for me.

  • & what if someone install listening bug or hidden camera to record in your car? Or you are being recorded or listened?

    • Don't do anything illegal in someone else's car (or your own)?

    • +2

Just don't forget your tin hat and cone of silence.

    • what naughty things are you planning to do?

    • Do you check under the toilet bowl at Airbnb places?

what if ppl shaggin & jizz all over in my car

    • +1

And they might poo in the glovebox or burn the seats to keep warm.

    • damage is covered by insurance..

      • Which means insurance pays a standard cleaning fee but the shit odour and bacteria last for 10 years

  • What !

    Malicious website blocked!
    www.carnextdoor.com.au
This website may be dangerous, and it is recommended that you do not continue. For your protection, this site has been blocked.

This detailed report explains the security risks on this site.

    • Yup ! My Norton blocked it and gave same warning.

    • Hey guys - full disclosure I work at CND

The security warning was due to an old link on the site, the tech team have submitted a request to Norton to get it fixed up, but the site is safe.

      • Hey, I just signed up but the credit isn't showing on my account. How does it work? Shouldn't it be listed on the Account Status page? Under "Your Current Balance"?

        • Hey, if you signed up after the 11th, the code wouldn't have worked as that was the expiry date (not for the credit for people who have already signed up, just for the code itself)

When you went through the signup process, it would have come up red saying it wasn't valid. If you signed up before then it should be in your account! When you login, click on the three lines at the top right corner and select account, and it is at the top under Account Summary.

If you want me to take a look just PM the email you signed up with and I'll check for you :)

PLEASE NOTE: For anyone reading this, the SHARK18 has now expired

  • So much paranoia here. People are overwhelmingly decent; they aren't as bad as current affairs programs say they are.

  • My car is too old, but I've got several friends earning very good money from these guys (and a few others who use the service as renters). Everything I've heard is good.

They've got insurance coverage, vet the users and cars, and seem to run a tight ship by all accounts. They've also been around for a while, so it's no 'fly by night' operation.

    • Can't be more than 12 years old, so nothing less than a 2006 model

Read this a few times, yet still cannot work out what is means.

    Also, who is SAHRE ?

  • I assume that you have to declare this in your tax return as extra income so you would get stung heavily by the tax man.

On the flip side if the tax man is stinging you on one side could you then claim for the mileage up to 5000km at 66c per km as it's kind of being used for work purposes.

Any way in which the cashback (via CR), referral bonus and this code can be stacked together?

  • Needs a credit check..
