Entry Level Dolby Atmos System

Hi I’m looking to get an entry level atmos system installed. Looking for any ideas/advice on a receiver, 5.1 speakers and in ceiling speakers.

I saw the amazon.de sale but would probably prefer to get something local and slightly more expensive for the warranty assurance. Especially if I’m gonna fork out $500+.

Speakers don’t have to be amazing, I’m not gonna blast them. Just wanna watch movies with full surround and overhead sound.

Happy to pay slightly more for a warranty or for something that’s gonna last or offer better value. $1000 would be ideal, but would consider going up to $1500 if it was worth it.

Thinking about Denon 1400 or the Pioneer VSX 932 (ebay). Then coupling so Denon SYS2020 (ebay) our Accent Acoustics Hide n Seek (Eastwood Hifi for $399). In ceilings not sure. Any advice is appreciated!

I did a bit of research on this and decided Atmos was not really worth it to me personally. There's a lot of mixed reviews about this, but I recommend you have a good listen to a system with Atmos and understand the content limitations before committing 100% to this feature in your room.

If you're set on Atmos then I would recommend the Denon over Pioneer, I would also recommend 5.1.4 over 5.1.2 (2 ceiling speakers). Denon seem to have the best reputation for updating their receivers to newer "smart" features (i.e. the AirPlay 2 support announced very early on). It also has better smart home connectivity with HomeBridge support, which was critical for me. This is the key differentiator for me of Denon and Marantz AVs.

I have a Pioneer currently and it's a good base system, obsessed with wattage specs in their marketing and less on the convenience features…

    Just my 2 cents.
