$30 creditme2u over phone not doable? What to use Telstra Prepaid Credit on?

So I've had a Telstra Prepaid number that I keep as a backup (for country trips etc) on a Simplicity plan for the last 7 years. My family send me $1 Creditme2u to keep it going and currently have just over $100 credit. In the past I would occasionally port over my main number via a $2 sim, call up and ask them to transfer $30 from Simplicity sim to my newly activated PrePaidPlus etc.

They always said the $30 can't be transferred, but it can be transferred as a virtual $30 recharge credit. I accepted and got all the benefits of whatever promo was running at the time. Done it maybe 3 times, no issue.

Called up today (pre activation) and asked if I could still do this, they said yes. Did my activation over the phone, asked the guy to transfer the $30. He said it's doable, but I would have to wait for the sim to become active. An hr later, sim is active, I call back. They say it can't be done :( Hung up, tried another op, same result.

So

  1. Has anyone else been successful transferring more than $10 credit at once over the phone? Not happy they all said I could, until the last stage and it became a no.

  2. I never received any notification of carrier billing ceasing. Does this have any impact?

  3. Other than just calls n text at 10c on Simplicity, is there anything else I can use the credit on? Sell it on classifieds / ebay?

  • Is the problem just that you can't transfer more than $10?
(you realise you can do the transfer by SMS yeah?)

    • SMS more than $10 at a time? ($30)?

So it come across like a $30 starter pack.

      Apparently you can't even do the $1 - $10 creditme2u anymore

  • People on the older grandfathered plans like old Long Life and Simplicity plans can send and receive credit me2u.

However all the new plans (LongLife Plus / Prepaid Extra / Day2Day) can't send or receive credit me2u at all.

If you have no further use for Recharge Credit on your old Simplicity yeah you could sell it on eBay. However only people on the older grandfathered plans will be able to receive the credit me2u tho. I've noticed that $10 credit "sells" for about $6.50-$7.00

    • Good tip. Might look into that. Might even be worth selling on the classifieds here.
