Looking to get the iPhone X on a plan, hoping it would drop in price with the upcoming new phones. Anyone know if phone companies usually have sales for plans around this time of year?

I think he meant wait 3 months for the new iPhone to come out as the iPhone X will fall in price as stores get rid of old stock.
That too. But this year's iPhone X is also supposed to have a price cut according to a source with a rock-solid reputation. Even if it doesn't, the current iPhone X will get big discount in a couple months.
Historically, iPhones get a discount around October just before the launch of a new model, then it becomes the new permanent price. Apple doesn't do EOFY sales, they aren't a car dealership. It will NOT be cheaper now vs September.
Bad time to buy an iPhone. The new one is rumoured to hit in September, take a price cut and (finally) bundle in a USB-PD fast charger.
