Questions Regarding DJI Care Refresh

Hi guys,

We have been recently getting lots of sales on ebay and EOFY is just around the corner (=more good deals on the way).

I have been eyeing DJI Mavic Air, but would like to add Dji Care.

I have been googling this too, but have found opposing answers. I was wondering what your experience has been.

Questions:
1. Can i add Dji Care to a fairly new drone bought off gumtree (comes with australian tax imvoice and warranty)?
2. Can i add Dji Care to brand new machine from ebay seller (does it have to be official reseller)?
3. Can i buy dji care from ebay store or should it be through dji.com only?
4. Can Dji Care be transferred to new owner when buying a drone with Dji Care from gumtree? (If yes, can they cancel it after selling the device?)

Thanks!

  • Crazy idea. Did you ask DJI?

Maybe post on their Facebook page or tweet at them on Twitter?

It's a few months since I read the DJI brochure on Care/Refresh, but my understanding is that access to it relates to the date/time that a drone was initially activated on DJI's system. From memory, Care/Refresh has to be logged with them within a certain brief time (36 or 48 hours, I think), of that initial drone activation.

So the answer to Q1 would likely be No; Q2 would be maybe; Q3 would be Yes and Q4 is Yes for a transfer, but I have no idea about later cancellation.

These are just my good faith recollections/understanding - please confirm for yourself with the DJI Care/Refresh brochure or FAQs.

    • Thanks iseenya for answering.
Thats pretty much what i found out too. But the info was mainly on US sites. Australian market is smaller and rules sometimes different in manufactorers favour.

You can only get it within 48hrs of drone activation. Totally worth it, I used mine and got a new drone after I crashed my Mavic Pro.

    • Is activation part of the initial setup?
I mean, if im buying a 2nd hand drone and it has had flight time, does it mean it has been activated 100% or can the drone be in air before registering too?

      • No, it's 48hrs from initial set up. I did get a refurbed drone from DJI ebay, and I was able to use refresh on that.

  • Ive got one on a DJI Mavic Pro that is currently at Lake Wabby on Fraser Island 5 metres out and 7 metres from left and 5 metres down. Ive looked for it twice and also have a $300 reward for its return ($500 if you prove you used scuba gear).
Sooo close and soooo Far. So NO Refresh isngt worth it. They are just playing with light damage vs loss. and loss wins 9 times out of 10 im sure.

  • 2nd question.
If you super glued the battery down so you couldnt get it off and see the serial number (Battery is swelled massively)
And the drone has been in salt water for days and is rusted solid.
and the identifing barcode sticker on the arm is gone.
and The drone is also registered to the same person as the one with Refresh that is lost.

Can DJI still get the serial number of the drone and identify it. (I heard there is like a water proof black box inside they can read regardless how damaged.

Asking for a long distant friend and no way related to me at all…

  • I had a chat with dji and found out that care doesnt cover you overseas, which i think is bs, cause lots of people use drones for travel pgotography.
    So, no thanks!
