Research of Financial Statements for Investment Purposes - Databases Like Capital IQ - Ideas of Software?

I just completed a Stock Valuation Unit at New York University online for a semester. We learnt how to read financial statements and work out the value of a company, based on Warren Buffett's philosophy. We used Capital IQ from S&P software to do this. It's a very powerful database that allows for searching of financial statements of all listed companies worldwide and via indicators such as PE ratio and liquidity ratios, etc.

With the end of my module access has been cancelled to Capital IQ, but I want to continue with my learning so I can later look at investing with what I have learnt. A subscription is $30,000 per user.

I have enquired with State Library NSW, local libraries, Chartered Accountants library, USyd Alumuni library for access, but none of them subscribe. I have contacted Capital IQ and they won't tell me who in Australia offers it.

Does anyone know of any providers of the software? Or any alternatives I could use which does not break the bank?

I doubt it. Capital IQ, Thomson Reuters & Bloomberg all charge very hefty subscription prices (with very onerous exit clause) for access to their databases.

If you're looking for US companies, a screener like finviz can do some of the stuff that your want (obviously not as good as you want), but it's a start.

https://www.clime.com.au/services/stocksinvalue/ does a stock valuation service along Buffett’s methodology. I found it quite helpful. Roger Montgomery used to be associated with them and seems to have moved on. It used to be called Stockval. Not sure what current rates are but many years ago it was about $2-3k per year.
