Teds Camera: eBay Shops That Don’t Have Stock after You Ordered

Ordered a lens off Teds on eBay. They had 4/10 sold when I ordered my item (clicked through and ordered it with the 10% code the minute it ticked over and went live) and they still had multiple lens available after - and today they called me and said that there was heavy demand and they had sold out and it’ll take 1+ month to get me my lens. I know that when I ordered, they had multiple lenses not sold so I don’t see how they’re suddenly got it backordered.

And because I paid via PayPal; I’m going to guess they already took my money? So irritating. The eBay listing says it due for delivery 20th June - not late July or maybe August. I have a feeling that these shops are taking advantage of eBay buyers. They wouldn’t do this to an in store customer

She was pushing for me to cancel the order too. I’m guessing it’s because it’s a hot new item and there’s a discount on it. Scummy behaviour

  • Unfortunately, it happens all the time now. Especially for popular items. You can either wait. Or cancel if you cant wait that long and you will get a refund.

It may be cheaper in the month while you wait. If that is the case definitely cancel.

  • +2

Since Teds have both online and B&M stores, might just be a case of physical stock being sold at their physical stores and up immediately being updated into their online system.

  • You don’t know where that stock listing is coming from.

In the time you clicked through, 6 others may have also been viewing the item and bought it.

Bad behaviour to encourage order cancellation - it looks better for them if you cancel the order rather then they taking a month to deliver

  • I had the same happen to me for Billy Ghyuetts. Is there anything we can do? I've been told there's a 2 month wait. Is it worth giving them a bad review?

  • Wait for it then give them a really low score for delivery speed
