Yes it is better , plus filter will last 6 months , cold & hot water , and enough water capacity .
Can you refill water? Is there a opening cap on the top that can be removed to refill water? And is there an indicator for the filter that shows it's time to replace?
It uses a peltier cooling system.. Not the greatest for cooling..
And I've had this style water bottle on top of my refrig cooler.. Its very low quality.. Hard to describe.. but I'd call it 80's style plastic.. if that makes sense?

I've got a cheap $50 benchtop unit from Officeworks, and the peltier is fine as long as you're not trying to fill up more than a litre at a time. Yes, it won't get as cold as a refrigerated unit, but it also won't use anywhere near as much electricity.
I've got one of these. Works well enough but as Megahowler notes the cooling is not great

The replacement filter for this product states it filters out viruses, which is not true as the product is not a reverse osmosis filter and it doesn't boil water. Not really a concern in Australia as our tap water is of very high standards (in urban areas), but I greatly dislike deceptive marketing.
Also, it says it will filter out 'heavy metals'. I sent an enquiry asking whether it will filter out lead? They replied saying "No".
Does anyone know how these compare to the ones listed on eBay?
Keen to know too.
