Online Shopping Tax Changes

has anything seen information what other overseas and online stores are going to be charging when this comes into effect.

are there other charges that i should be aware now when importing such things as games and movies from overseas retailers or the odd cheap thing from Ebay

when i ask OzGameshop about it.

The told me they will be conforming to these changes with a possibly up to an increase of 20% in costs

as an example with Shenmue 1+2 and Spyro reignited

ozgameshop future combined price for these titles will have increased by $20 making it $10 cheaper than EB games and the exact same price as JB hifi on release

Still no news on what they are going to do.

I'm hoping because they're in China, they will continue not giving a f about legalities.

  • What if online stores mark it as gift/personal parcel or does it apply to all parcels coming overseas??

  • HopShopGo are going to charge it. Not happy. Effectively, we are adding a trade tariff of 10% on all O/S goods. Other countries should fight back.

      They are.

      • "Other countries, such as Australia, are concerned of the consequences of a trade war."

Well, if they hit us with some, we have ourselves to blame. What a ridiculous thing to impose on us. Anything I ship, even second hand goods now get a GST? Why?

iHerb will add 10% to the order after 01/07, got an email from them.

  • Amazon US blocking AUS sales. Will ramp up Amazon AU orders instead.

The one good thing in all of this is we finally have decent shipping in AU now between Amazon Prime, ebayplus and Shipster.

  • how about ebay?
