Homepod - What’s The Cheapest Option?

What’s the best way to get a HomePod for the cheapest price? Am thinking there must be a 15 or 20 percent off voucher for jb for eofy or something :)

I had to Google Homepod to know what it is… Just saying.

    • I guess because there have not been too many deals on homepod compared to the likes of google homes and others on here.

      • If you have no concern at all for user privacy, 100% go Google home, they pretty much give them out for free. If you don't want a company listening to your conversations and using the information to sell you stuff then don't go Google.

man this whole wireless speaker trend. its a lot of money to install some creepy spyware in your home, and you can get an awesome pair of regular speakers for cheap and turn them into a wireless streaming system with a raspberry pi pretty easily

    • The issue right now is that voice recognition is too processor intensive to be done locally, and so requires always-on internet connectivity and sending audio to their servers. And that voice recognition (and associated voice activated functionality) is generally the biggest draw for people in buying these smart speakers.

In a few years we'll no doubt have processors smart enough to do this locally, but we'll also have more advanced voice recognition which will, again, be so processor intensive that it requires sending to a server. Maybe in a decade or so voice recognition processor requirements will plateau and consumer-/appliance-level processors will have caught up that it can all be done locally.

  • If you're still looking, the Homepod is $398 @ Harvey Norman at the moment.

  • How often does the HomePod gets discounted wouldn’t mind getting one soon
