Just wondering what are Ozbargainers thoughts about this phone or should I just hold on for note 9 or Maybe Samsung Galaxy X/10
Got a s7 from almost 2+ years and need of update as the phone seems to have slowed down a lot and also the battery is just horrible. I run a business and I get email every minute or so. Other work related apps are very slow to boot up. I have reset the phone but still slow. So it's time to upgrade.
It's an Oppo = ColorOS = Steer clear.
Oppo makes generally great hardware and then saddles it with terrible software.
What's your personal experiences with oppo phones? As someone who used oppo phones before, they're pretty good.
I owned an Oppo R7 which was killed whilst doing the firmware update to Project Spectrum.
Oppo Australia were excellent, replaced the handset with a brand new R7S which I sold just prior to them releasing the R9 series (and R7S values plummeted from ~$450 to $300 virtually overnight)
I bought the R7 lightly used for a bargain price of $150, and I was living with the limitations of ColorOS until Project Spectrum matured sufficiently.
From the R7S sale, I bought a $200 Redmi Note 3 Pro, my current handset, and pocketed the $250 balance. Best decision I made!
Just prior to its death, we Purchased an Oppo Find 7 for my Wife who owned it until smashing the screen last year. She's not a picky phone user by any means, but she quickly got sick of ColorOS killing stuff in the background no matter what toggles were set to keep things alive that eventually she begged me to load a Custom ROM on to it.
I replaced the screen but there's some weird bug such that when it goes to sleep, the "horizontal Hold" shifts 90 degrees, such that the Left Side of screen displays on the right hand side and Vice Versa, but the Digitiser positions things correctly. It can only be rectified by a restart until it goes back to sleep again.
So I'm about 18 months out of ColorOS, but currently shopping around for an upgrade to the RMN3P, R11S ticks virtually all my boxes, but from what I've read, ColorOS remains overly aggressive in killing background apps and highly restrictive in what apps you can use for standard tasks.
I'm certainly not alone in hating ColorOS, disappointing to see that they've killed off Project Spectrum.

How are phone cases going to work?
Only saw it for the first time this morning - I'm intrigued.
wow I find it amazing a $1000+ phone can be so slow. even my 5 year old windows phone is fast.
