WORST Bargains ever - 512Mb memory card $129!!!

I was down my local 'Pick and Pay' supermarket (part of Coles Myer) and they obviously dont have a good clearance policy for stock, found the following:

  • 512Mb Memory Stick $129.95
  • Old Xbox 8Mb memory card $52.95
  • A selection of old xbox games, most for $29.95
  • NHL 07 for the 360 - $119 (BIN on ebay $2!)
  • Batteries for mobiles dated 2000, most bigger than a modern mobile!

I've put some photos on facebook

Anyone seen a worse buy from a major retailer!

  • The original xbox memory card is probably getting close to being worth $53 again! There can't be many new-in-box cards left anymore!

  • Sunnybank?

    • Sunnybank Hills, south of Brisbane, just in case you want to rush and get one, they had plenty left!

The phone battery for $2 seems OK and it does say reduced, so whats wrong with that price? The battery is for certain phone models so they have to have those dimensions to be compatible for the listed models, so your claim "Batteries for mobiles dated 2000, most bigger than a modern mobile!" is irrelevant for the battery shown in the pic as its the correct size.

The Sandisk PSP 512MB for $129.95 doesn't state its reduced/clearance/on special so they never claimed it was a bargain or even reduced.
The cheapest on Staticice is $5.85 (http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=4gb+SD&spos…) so for you to claim "Probably most overpriced item of the lot, this 512Mb memory card for $129, probably worth about $1 in 2011 considering 4Gb (4000Mb) goes for about $6 in stores." on Facebook is actually misleading as all except 2 places charge MORE then the "around" $6 you claim. As its memory it would also be 4096MB NOT 4000Megabits.

I find your post just a whinge as the 2 pics I viewed, one was reduced and seemed a good price and the other never claimed to be reduced hence you can't say worst bargain ever as the picture doesn't show any claim of it being a bargain yet you're complaining its "worst" bargain.

    • The phone battery is about as big as an iPhone! Scale is not obvious from the photo!
Guess it could be bargain if you are still using the associated phone :)

'Bargain' was obviously used sarcastically, I just though this would be amusing to fellow OzBs

lol calm down, dude. I think he just posted it so we could get a kick/laugh out of it.

  • Slow news day? ;)

  • I thought you usually have to pay premium for antiques. They'll be more expensive once they are in museums!

hmmmm…. so anyone willing to buy my nintendo 64?

      • anyone interested in my 120mb zip disks?

        • That would be counterfeit then :) ZIP disks only came in 100MB, 250MB or 750MB. I think it's SuperDrive that's 120MB.

  • I think there is a ghost in the XBox photo. There is a outline of a person! OMG!

    ;)

  • Strong bargains. I'm jelly.

  • ironic photos, considering you listed the parent company as coles myer….

  • where's crosby?
