Audi Financial Services/VW Financial Services

Hi everyone,

Long time listener, first time caller.

I recently purchased an Audi (picking it up this weekend) and Audi are offering their own comprehensive car insurance through Audi Financial Services which is backed by VWFS (Volkswagen Financial Services).

Unfortunately I can't find any Australian reviews on the product.

Do any Audi or VW owners use them or have any experience with them?

Thanks in advance.

    Q5 owner here.

I wouldn't trust Volkswagen at all.

Please shop elsewhere, if its a new car try to find one that will do new for old for the first 3 years.

  • I thought Allianz did the VW/Audi insurance?

I have had a car loan with VWFS & car insurance with them too for about 4.5 years now, it's actually just Allianz insurance rebranded by VWFS. I have never had to make a claim, but I chose them as they were by far the cheapest comprehensive insurance at the time & have continued to be every time I have re-evaluated since.

My VWFS insurance included new for old for the first 3 years (even on my car which was purchased as ex demo), but it might have changed by now.

  • Shop around. Also check if relatives addresses make it cheaper if kept here as an address to use. Go with highest excess to keep initial cost down unless you think you will claim in the year. Worth getting windscreen cover if you have any rain sensors or detectors mounted within in windscreen. Budget Direct will be cheapest, but I've never made a claim. Just go with a large insurance company.

      Fraud.

      • what Dedbny meant to say was take out the policy under the name of the person that gets the cheapest quote.

      • Theres nothing actually stopping you from parking the car anywhere really. What if I take my car on a holiday for 3 weeks. Its not in the location I parked it on record. Its not like they are not going to process claim as comprehensive. I might actually park my car at my relatives address most of the time or other as I move around.

Or yes take out policy under persission of relative address and details. Whatever. Just an idea.

Isn't that going to be a slight issue during a claim when you declare the car is garaged in Mosman when in fact it ison the front lawn in Mount Druitt?

      • You were away that night. Believe its an indicator where it will be the majority of the time, not every night. Suppose they can ask the neighbours if you parked the car there all the time. If you park the car in your garage anyway it should be secure from any issues from the address you give. Just a thought. Insurance is high enough as it is.

If you have comprehensive it shouldn't matter. The only reason I say it is because insurance premiums are based on suburbs, not your own address and claims of your own. I live in a well to do area. My parents live in a slightly medium suburb. The difference in premium is significant. $200-$300. That is significant.

All IMO. Up to you whether you want to approach it the same way. I haven't had any claims so not an issue now.

Also agree with @tshow comments below.

If it is worth having insurance, it is worth having insurance that will pay out.

You are not saving $300 when they refuse your claim. You are losing not only your full premium cost, plus whatever you are out of pocket for the incident.

        • @Joshm12:

Appreciate your comnents. My method is not tested, so it may be flawed, but was only an idea. Full comprehensive should still be covered if you dont happen to park your car that 1 night in your garage at the designated address is what I was trying ro say about the alternate address if it helps. I suppose I'm trying to say you may not have any claims etc, but because you live in a high claim area you pay more premium. That is not fair in my opionion. My neighour across street might be next neighbourhood and get cheaper premium. Doesnt make sense how they work that out.

        • @Dedbny:

because you live in a high claim area you pay more premium. That is not fair…

Insurance isn't about fairness, it's all about risk. If you live in an area where your car has a higher risk of being vandalized, stolen, get hail damage, etc - then you will have to pay more to insure it.

VWFS is just the company name. The policy is underwritten by Allianz.

I have not had issues with Allianz, however, they are pricey. I'm not sure why it is higher than NRMA after matching the excess and agreed value.

It doesn't matter who you go with as long as you are insuring for agreed value and choice of repairer, and new panels on repairs.

  • Bingle offers new for old replacement for the first three years if you choose that option and it is way cheaper than anyone else. QBE offers 4 years which is the longest I know of but it is super expensive.

I had insurance through Toyota insurance a few years ago and they were through a Japanese company no one had ever heard of. Had no problems claiming.

    • Hmm I took out GIO 2yrs ago as they have lifetime new for old replacement in event of write-off.

It was competitive at first, I think the policy is a little high compared to the market now, but CBB to change, likely to change cars before changing insurer.
