Kogan 43" Smart HDR 4K LED TV (Series 8 MU8010) Thoughts?

Hi Guys,

Great special on this TV at the moment, the Dick Smith 20% brings it under $400,
Has anyone got one of these?
How are they for a secondary TV? (For bedroom)

No idea of how it performs, but just a friendly suggestion from someone that repairs tvs as a hobby, go with the bigger brands as spare parts are more available if something goes wrong out of warranty.

The bigger brands might seem to have a lot of problems as well, but remember the user base is a LOT bigger so the percentage of problems is smaller than Kogans and the like.

Every Kogan I try to repair has an obscure Chinese component that I can't get or has no technical datasheet on it so I can't sub in a good pin compatible equivalent.
And I see a fair few of them.

The questions that you should ask yourself.

    • Is the quality of the screen important?
    • Do you wish the image quality to be similar to the name brand TVs? (Although the model number is a pseudo Samsung)
    • Are you going to stress if the TV dies during and straight after warranty (logistics of delivery/pickup/fixing, RMA etc)?
    • Would it irritate you if a TV that has very slow smart features and takes a while to open and navigate?

If the answers are Yes to the above then don't waste your money.
Who cares if it is on special? Usually many buyers get sucked into the cost and the flashy image on the site and then after purchase, spend additional $1000 on a real TV as it is crap.
So my advice is the you… use that $383 that you are going to spend for this rubbish and top up for a real name brand TV. You'll save overall and be happier in the long run :P

    Cheers
