MacBook Pro 2015 for $1600?

I'm currently looking to get a 2015 MBP with the following configuration: i7, 13", 16GB, and 256+ SSD.

Apple had refurbished in stock for over $2500 (incl GST) but they are all gone now :(

I managed to find a second hand version from someone who had recently replaced the battery with Apple for $1600 with NO GST.

is it worth spending $1600 or should I wait for $2500 to come back on sale again?

I'm not looking to get myself 2016 or 2017 model as i dislike their keyboards.

Thanks

Overpriced either way, paid about $2000 for a 2nd hand 2015 MBP 15in (Base model but i5, 16Gb RAM, 256Gb) almost 2.5 years ago.

Consider the base 2015 MBP 15in model because the stock model has most of your requirements unless you really need the lighter one.

  • I would rather go for a 13" for their portability, and yes, I definitely need i7 for work.

    • Whoops sorry it comes standard with an i7 (2.2 GHz (i7-4770HQ) quad-core Intel Core i7 Haswell with 6 MB on-chip L3 and 128 MB L4 cache ) and not an i5.

Also the 13in i7 is a dual core only. So you might have to get the 15in instead..

      • thanks but I would still prefer 13" for their portability.

Actually I still have the 2011 i7 running well, but the battery & screen drive me nutts.

Point is, is it reasonable to pay $1600 for this sort of laptop?

Is this something similar to what you're looking for? https://theschoollocker.com.au/apple-macbook-pro-13-ret-cto-…

(If you haven't heard of TheSchoolLocker, they are owned by Harvey Norman.)

    • wow, it does look what i'm looking for… wondering if apple would honour a 2 year warranty on this one :) ?

  • Well it's brand new so it would make sense that they would? I've bought a Wacom tablet them before in store.

  • Nice, now a dilemma, $1700 (i thought it was 1600 but no) for second hand or $2500-GST for a brand new one… $572 of a difference, what would you buy?

  • I got a 13" 8GB 2015 MB for $800 late last year.
