England V Belgium - Anyone Staying/Getting up to Watch?

Should be a half decent game given each teams' performance in their previous appearance - who'll likely have the edge?

I think both will be playing to lose ;)
Loser plays winner of Group H (which will be known prior), but importantly sends them to the 'other side' of the knockout draw and avoids a meeting with Brazil in quarter finals.

    • Are Brazil considered that much of an opponent this time? I've only glanced at a couple of their games but they didn't seem that amazing this time round.

        Who knows.
2 weeks ago Germany was a threat.
        Anything can happen.

Brazil are always a team to avoid!

Might well be the most farcical match ever. Winner gets horror draw.

I'm half expecting the keepers to be in the opposite goals and it to rain own goals.

It's a shame, as they are form teams.

I recall watching a 2002 World Cup final group match game where the both teams basically stopped playing with 10 minutes to go. The result in the other game was favourable for both teams, so they just passed the ball between one another. It was a farce and the crowd booed and jeered, but nothing could make the players play.

Will be interesting to see how this game turns out.

  • The England/Belgium game might be as bad a Poland/Japan, where everyone stopped playing for the last 10 minutes.

  • Not happy england lost but it's got to be the easier knockout stage of the two.

I dozed through most of it.

Can't have been a good game then and OzBargainers deserve the best games!

All the interest was selling out soon.

  • Did they make actually make a game of it, or were they trying to lose as predicted?

  • Just look at the line ups before the match. Alot of the starting 11 for both teams were on the bench. Says it all.

  • Thanks everyone - looks like I didn't miss much.
