Afterpay TV over $1000 Only Because of Postage

Wanting to afterpay a tv from Myer's website. The tv costs $999 which is under the maximum afterpay limit. Although to ruin the deal, I have to get it delivered because I have no nearby Myer's stores. The postage is $79 which means it's over the afterpay limit.

How would I get around this? Can I buy a $100 gift card and use that, then be able to use afterpay for the rest.

Much appreciated.

  • Use a credit card, transfer the balance later to a different interest-free card later if need be.

  • Yeah you can’t split payments with afterpay sadly.

Looks like you can't afford it yet. Perhaps try making 4 simple payments into your savings account, one every 2 weeks, then buy it.

  • How would I get around this?

You open a new savings account and every fortnight you transfer $250 into it and after 8 weeks, you splash out and buy the TV (and tossing in the $80 shipping too).

  • Just put it on old fashioned layby if its on special

Am I the only one that doesn't understand who on earth would use Afterpay?

Probably the people who should avoid these kinds of financial traps the most. Afterpays target and favourite loyal customers.

  • Afterpay is like a credit card. You can do the same with a credit card (55 days interest free) by paying over 4 fortnights.

    • I prefer Afterpay but only because it allows me to split a purchase across two credit cards (works out to be about 100 days interest free between initial purchase and paying the last payment on the due date of your credit card)
