Need Some Advice for Dell Optiplex 9020

Hey, I was thinking of getting a i7 optioned pc.

Don't really know much about PC's, but would I be able to use like Adobe Photoshop and Dreamweaver, and occasionally play some games like League of Legends. It has 8GB RAM, and 250 HDD, but I read somewhere that I should change to SSD. So just wondering if it has enough power to run those applications and not lag or be slow.

What type of SSD would I need for the computer, is there a specific type or all they all the same size?

I'm getting it for $300, is that good deal?

Thanks

4th gen i7 is rock solid for your software applications, and LoL is not demanding at all so it can run adequately off the integrated graphics.

Adding a small SSD for the OS and your main applications will make a huge difference in responsiveness, well worthwhile.

Check out the history of Optiplex 9020 deals here, seems like the ones that go for around the $300 mark often come with an SSD so perhaps you can find a better deal.

Thanks. Would u recommend installing a Wi-Fi card, getting the usb thing, or powerline ethernet

      • powerline if your wiring is not old

That era would have left DELL with a i7 4770.
It would benifit from an SSD as you mentioned.

  • The 9020 is a great machine. It comes with a standard drive, but you can pull out the DVD drive and replace it with an SSD. If you want to tidy up the installation, you can use a "second hard drive laptop caddy" which works well.

In terms of space for graphics card, you can use a small form factor, single slot, Geforce 1030 without any issues. Note that the 1050s dont seem to fit the Australian version of the Optiplex 9020 due to the how close the slot is to the power supply. YouTube videos will tell you otherwise, but I've just done a fit out for twenty of them at work, and dual slot cards were not fitting.

Great machine though, very quiet, very reliable, and quite speedy (especially for the price they are going for second hand).
