Is Anyone Else Having Problems with Telstra Pixel XL2 Deal?

Hi guys,

Me and my partner got Pixel2 XL with the popular Telstra/JB deal (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/363865).
Among other problems with them, Telstra doesnt honour their promised $49/mth discount fare ($10 off the regular fee).
We were promised that in chat, we have all the reference numbers etc but still every month they have sent my partner $59 bill and now after 2 $49 bills i received a $59 bill as well. We are so fed up with arguing with them every month and all these promises that from next bill it will be $49.
I was wondering if this is a common practice on their behalf (are there many people in the same boat with us) and how to fix it permanently?

  • I got the same deal - my bills are still $49. What did Telstra say when you did online chat again and asked where your discount was?

    • With her 1st bill they said they had already sent out the bill and couldnt change it. Which i thought was a big pile of bs.
      2nd bill $59 again. This time she didnt take the bs and pushed until she got apology and $20 credit.
      3rd bill was $59 for both of us..

    Did you try calling them? If you have reference number,lodge a complaint and it will be sorted.

      This, and every piece of written correspondence to Telstra must contain the words "Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman".

      • Thats what i thought.
        But that is so wrong that the biggest telco is trying to screw over their customers and you have to threaten them with ombudsman.
        It is Telstra, not a small cornershop.

  • You need to ensure they send you an SMS confirmation whilst on the phone with them and it should show up in your Telstra app eventually.

  • I got the same deal around the same time again for both myself and my partner - I'm on the $79 (paying 69) and her on the $59 (paying $49) and so far nothing has changed.

  • For those unaware, can you explain how you got the discount? I've purchased this 2XL Telstra deal and have foxtel through Telstra and asked if there were any further deals when I was signing up (i.e. given I had foxtel) and I was promptly told no.

      It was suggested here on OzB to ask for further discount while signing up for this deal. Some people got $10/mth off, some got extra 5gb data and some got both. You just had to be persistent on chat and ask until you got what you wanted.
      I dont believe you can get any discounts any more.
