"Have you included GST?" tickbox for overseas deals?

I haven't got the stats to back this up, but I would imagine that a lot of people will now be posting deals from overseas, missing the new GST component.

Would the addition of a tickbox (or some other prompt) be appropriate to trigger the inclusion of GST in the posted price? I was thinking a tickbox which said "Is GST applicable to this deal? Have you included it?" or something better.

This would resolve a lot of confusion and comments asking about whether GST was included or not.

Cheers

  • I consider GST more attached to the vendor than the deal - so would definitely like to see it on the vendor's page.

Per deal, will a deal poster necessarily know if the vendor/marketplace is collecting GST without they themselves creating an account and just about going through checkout? I'm imagining not and wouldn't wish to discourage deal postings from needing to do that. I thinking I prefer the OP edit the title as soon as he/she knows or is made aware of it.

      I agree with OP.

Janko you have a point but the other side of the coin has me having to practically be one step short of buying to find out…..so add a second box marked "unknown", at least a buyer is warned that GST may be an issue…..and from another post (haven't seen if turned out to be true) alleging EBay US was charging over 10% with people saying could be covering admin costs who knows what may be the actual cost so, yeah I think a flag should exist.

Unscrupulous sellers will never quote GST IMO. There's also the conundrum - is a seller not liable to charge GST (ie small business), is a seller just telling the Oz Gov "collect it yourself".

      Thanks again Gerry.
