Need a new TV :D

Ok guys,

Powersurge caused my tv to fry so time for an insurance claim :D got a 50" pioneer plasma which i heard they dont make anymore so the insurer has agreed to pay for the equivilant today which i beleive is the panasonic V series.

However I thought I better get with the times and purchase a better tv i.e. led or 3d?

any suggestions on brands and prices for a similar sized panal?

  • I have a Sony 46' 3D bravia. The 200Hz is very nice, but at the end of the day I don't use the 3D very often, not enough movies/games to justify it.

Hell get it if you want the cutting edge, and I'm very happy with the TV, just saying the 3D shouldn't be a big selling point ;)

  • thanks for the update hippy, however sony use LG panels if im not mistaken? which im trying to steer clear from…

    what about a sharp LED?

  • Never quite understood this fascination with LED. Same LCD rubbish with a bit more marketing spin to bump the price up significantly. Most people and thier situation/room/viewing habbits would gain more from a plasma.

    • One signficant decider is that power consumption of a LED is half to one third that of a Plasma

Plus you don't need to worry about burn-in.

And the LED should theoretically have a far longer life to half original brightness

      And weight…

  • Pioneer Plasma TVs are the best TV that was ever created. That's a piece of ART! It's a damn shame they don't make them anymore, I suspect the reason being is they can't compete with korean crap (Samsung/LG) which has flooded the market.

That's a bit unfair to replace your panel with a panasonic!

    • Unfortunately so, but all pioneer tv engineers moved over to panasonic and now panasonic boasts such quality. Waiting till the new range of panasonic plasmas come in april and ordering a 58" :D
