Courier Camera to Japan from Australia

Hi Folks,

I want to send a camera to my brother in Japan.

What is the cheapest way of sending it to him. I donot know anyone or anything that i can send through except Australia Post.

I want it to be delivered in 10 days time.

Is there other way of sending it.

Thank you

  • DHL/FedEx/UPS are the usual candidates.

transdirect - cheaper than going direcly to ups/dhl/fedex

Honestly, though, who sends a camera to Japan? Tell him buy one in Japan and sell it when he gets back … probably make a profit on it. You're already on Ozbargain, shouldn't be rocket science to find a deal on a camera over there … can probably ship it directly to him from an online shop.

    • That's a good point. I only ever hear of people buying cameras from Japan. Maybe it's a family heirloom and not a newly bought one?

    • I second this, camera's are a bit cheaper in Japan. Although he probably already has a camera and isn't looking to purchase one.

Not sure about it being cheaper necessarily. Australia has a low tax on foreign electronics. Sony TVs are more expensive here in Japan than they are in Australia (comparing ozbargain deals to bic camera, etc prices). And after seeing the Yamaha YAS-107 deal go for less than $150 on ozb lately, its still about $280AUD in Japan, as an example of the differences of tax on local/foreign electronics.

Im guessing its an unwanted prize or fell off the back of a truck, and good re-sale value in japan.

  • Received a package from Japan recently - was sent with DHL - arrived 2 days after it was shipped.

    • Amazing hey, it's like they have a person standing there ready to chuck a parcel on the plane the second somebody clicks buy.

      • DHL own nearly 100 aircraft, and contract a number more.

  • Looks like people are confused.

I am sending from Australia to Japan.

Who says Japan camera is cheaper than Australia?

    Thanks

Most shipping from Oz is expensive. Why not buyonline from HK and have them send it to Japan

  • Hey,

I'll take it for you - just need you to pay for the plane tickets - would love to go back and visit Japan.

Seriously though, possibly post a 'deal' for someone already going to get a cut.
