Is there any way to filter out eBay Plus deals?

Hey all,

Getting a bit tired of filtering through all these eBay Plus deals, am a heavy eBay user but I don’t want eBay Plus because reasons

Is there any way to filter them out so I don’t see them in my feed?

Thanks

Is there any way to filter them out so I don’t see them in my feed?

    Yes, close your eyes.

  • Have you tried not looking at eBay plus deals?

Yes, but they're achieving the outcome they're looking for, headline price which catches your attention, but with a big fat asterisk that makes them either less of a deal or not really a deal unless you have eBay Plus.

I haven't seen a single eBay Plus deal on Amazon. Great filter.

Ironically it's easier to filter eBay Plus deals on eBay as they have a price + postage option, which means those 'deals' get filtered to the bottom.

  • because reasons

    I am intrigued.

To put it simply subscription is not a business model I am a fan of. It's a personal preference and against the tide of where capitalist society is going but I will take other options while I can

      • I am not a fan either. I am avoiding eBay Plus sellers.

  • out of curiosity, why do you need to filter it out? Are non-members not allowed to buy those deals? or are non members priced differently. Sorry I do use ebay, but not religiously enough to spot any changes.

Ebay plus members get free postage.
Some sellers seem to take advantage of this to offer cheap items where ebay pays the postage. There are many SD card deals following this idea.
$50 small item but sell for $30 with $20 postage that actually costs seller $1-3 postage and ebay pays $20. Non ebay plus has to pay ridiculous postage if they want that item.

      • This, mostly, it's attention grabbing but ends up being either not as good a deal, or not at all a deal for non-eBay Plus subscribers. I'm happy to miss out on the occasional genuine deal when postage is included, but they seem to be the minority.

      • I see.
Since I just buy if the overall price is right, I didnt consider sellers being able to 'rig' the system.

thanks for the heads up, I understand now. Cheers

You aren't alone OP. I share your philosophical reasons for avoiding the subscription model. I'm similarly annoyed by all the ebay plus ads and would like a way not to be alerted to them. I have an ebay notification subscription, but it is being overwhelmed by all the plus deals.

    • Add me as well. I am actually avoiding eBay Plus sellers now, and have reduced my use of eBay overall. I really don’t like this subscription program.

  • login and go to: https://www.ebay.com.au/ebayplus/home then there should a search box labelled "Find Ebay Plus items"

    • but he wanted to filter OUT ebay plus deals…

      i.e 'because reasons'

      • my bad. in that case, there's no way. it's their marketing strategy else they wouldn't have bothered with ebay-plus in the first place.

Yeah in my opinion Ebay Plus deals should be marked as "Targeted" which they aren't being tagged as. Reason being, if you're not a member you can't get the deal and therefore are not targeted.

    • but how else are they going to entice non ebay-plus members to fork out for ebay-plus membership if they stopped showing "this is how much cheaper it'll be with ebay-plus" deals?
