Up to 110K Qantas Points or Free Apple Watch with Single/Couples/Family Health Insuarance Cover @ Qantas Assure (60 Day Minimum)

110

This was originally posted back in April here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/371361 (thanks spuderump) however the deal has changed quite a bit since so thought it was worthy of a repost.

  • You can now get up to 110k Bonus Points (55k for Singles) if you take out any level of cover. See here: https://www.qantasassure.com/wellness/abouttheprogram and click on "Find out more" for the table.

  • You also now have the option to choose from an Apple Watch (or bonus points) when you take out any of the policies listed at the bottom of this page: https://www.qantasassure.com/health-insurance/apple-watch-of….

  • Currently all 2 and 6 months waiting periods will be waived on all levels of cover if you don't currently have health insurance. If you are coming from another fund, your time served on waiting periods (if over 6 months) and claimed amounts on extras cover will be carried over.

You can earn up to 20,000 Extra Qantas Points per year through the Qantas Assure App by doing exercise and earn an extra 1 point per dollar spent on your health insurance premiums (on top of whatever points you get from your credit card program)

Must hold cover for 60 days minimum to be eligible for the bonus.

Offer ends tomorrow (6/7/2018)

EDIT: Confirmed you can get an extra 5000 points by mentioning a referral (see grey box below) and don't forget to add yours too. You'll have to do it by phone though once you've decided on your cover.

  • They use NIB for health insurance and the values are poor comparing to providers.

  • My neighbour went for this mob, for the points, and he said they were useless when he actually fell ill.

  • honestly it's horrible value health insurance. i guess good deal if you are already set on going with qantas though.

  • Their phone service seems to be good, but not sure about the actual insurance. It is a good one to do once a year for the points, but the points are expensive as you have to get top cover.

Couldn't you just sign up for 2 months as a couple $359.60 *2=$719.20 Get 110000 Qantas points and sell it for profit? Though I wonder when they actually credit you the points.

Yeah good for chasing points and you could use the extras if you need them. By the terms and conditions if you cancel on the 61st day.. regardless of if they have given them to yet or not you should still receive the points.

  • I joined, left after 3 months, points hit my QFF in about 2.5 months. I didnt get a good as deal as this though

  • I've been on another provider for 10 years or so. Can you generally switch and maintain no waiting period, when switching away again from this mob?

    • Yes that's fine.. All waiting periods already served with your current insurer will be carried over and likewise when you leave

Good for chasing points. I switched from medibank for 2 months, paid $30 a month more for similar cover and got 110k points. So in effect, $60 for 110k Qantas points. Didn’t have to use the cover and have now switched back to medibank on 30/6/18 and got 6 weeks free so def a win. Might be worth for some already paying for top cover.

    • $30 a month?

      • $30a month more, he said.

  • If I applied under a friends address in NT - whats the worst that could happen? I'm only after the points…..

I posted this a few months back. Can confirm I got the points on the 63rd day and cancelled straight away. Cost me about $300 extra over the 2 months.

    SO WORTH IT.

  • I just switched to Nib from Medibank for the $200 offer, this would have been far better offer.

    • If you are within your 30 day cooling off period you can cancel nib and join Qantas assure

  • $560 for 55000 points doesn’t seem particularly good value

    • True but depends if you would get value out the extras too though. Also if you already have health insurance and you already pay say around $130 a month on a singles policy then you could transfer over to the Basic Plus and Lifestyle Extras for example, get the 25k Bonus Points plus the 5k referral then transfer back to whatever fund you want and be 30k Qantas points up for nothing. Just depends on your circumstances I guess.

  • Anyone know what happens if I switch over but I've prepaid at another insurer (e.g. Bupa?)

    • +1

If you’ve prepaid at another insurer they will give you a refund, which will be a percentage of what you’ve paid and how many days are left on your policy that are paid for. E.g say you’ve paid a full month then switch, you will get that back. If you’ve paid a full month, then switch one week in you will get 3 weeks worth back.

      Hope that makes sense.

  • Just did a quote, for the same NIB policy I will only get 10K bonus points, which is nothing compared to the $200 voucher from NIB and Amex cashback on top of that.

  • Top hospital plus any extra costs around $500 per month (couple). So I need to stay for 2 months before I can get 110k. Not really worth the money.
