Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Exceed 2WD - prices paid?

At the moment Mitsubishi are having a driveaway deal on this car for $38,490 (NSW).

I'm trying to find some info on what prices people have actually paid. I have found 2017 demos with a 2-3 thousand kms on them starting from around $33-34k driveaway but not too much info on brand new cars. Dealer offered $36.5k without too much pushing today but I feel there is more to be had there. I did find https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/378874#comment-5956462 stating around $8k off retail so I'll contact a car broker and see if I have any joy there but in the mean time thought I'd check with the Ozbargain community if they had any feedback on prices paid?

Edit: Seems as though not much interest in this car at all but for anyone looking in the future, I ended up paying $34044.70 inc GST with floor mats and roof racks for a white Exceed 2wd model (2018 build) and registered in a company name.

  • I paid $0.
My free car I had to sell to those people that buy cars for $29900 :'(

Defo go for a car broker or maybe a novated lease?

    • Sad times. Still though if you won it and turned it into $30k I'd not cry too much :)

Novated lease isn't an option for me as it's for business purposes anyway and don't need finance but have reached out to a car broker now so hopefully hear back soon.

      • I gave back to Mitsubishi by buying a 60k Pajero instead.

  • wottt ? eclipse is now a mini SUV ??

    • Yeah bit of a change from the Eclipse of old. Mitsubishi as a company seems to want to only do SUVs these days.

That back light configuration is hideous. Saw it in the flesh the other day. Ewwwww

    • Was my initial reaction as well but I've come around a bit but will accept resale might be challenging when the time comes given how divisive the design is. Would definitely prefer it was slightly more conventional design in the rear but I didn't find it as distracting as I thought whilst driving - reminds me of the old CRX setup a bit.

Totally agree. Saw the ads when it first came and then saw the back. Terrible. Just as bad as the Pajero Sport. The designers at Mitsubishi must be doing some form of subtle protest.

    • This vs Nissan Juke, who's uglier

these new line-ups of mini suv are not easy on the eye. sharp edges and weird looking lights. hmm.

    • You forgot flip up doors.

  • Y'all really don't want the Qashqai or the HR-V or the XV?

No android auto on the Qashqai and the drive was a bit noisier. The HR-V is missing quite a few tech and safety features vs the eclipse cross and I'm coming from another Subaru to this car and didn't want to go Subaru again as whilst I love my car now it had a few teething problems from the dealer and it left a bad taste in my mouth.

      • Fair enough yea

  • Personally I'd forget about anything Mitsubishi. Talking to the service manager of the local dealership yesterday, he said for FY17/18, 75% of workshop hours were spent on warranty repairs, only 25% on regular servicing. He came from a Honda dealership and said it blows his mind the amount of failures Mitsubishi have.

    • Personally I would buy an another Mitsubishi, only if they produce better design of lancer. After using three generations of Lancers, only had to do two recall services other than twice a year regular services for all this time.
Maybe, that service center ripping off clients, so they rather do their regular services else where other than warranty services.
Plus Honda owners are like a cult, they prefer to have their car service at Honda with Honda engine oil.

I've owned a number of Lancers, Mirage, and now own the latest Eclipse.

I've never had any trouble with them, and can vouch for their quality service, along with value for money compared to the other Japanese brands.

    • Thanks for the heads up. I've owned a Mitsubishi before (albeit many years ago) and didn't have any major issues then but that was quite a while ago. Will try have a chat with the local service department.

    • I have a 2012 Mitsi ASX. To date no major problems.

We've had 3 MAJOR recalls so far…and boy are they serious. The first one was for the tailgate gas strut. Apparently they didn't paint the strut with anti-corrosion protection and it might rust. When I looked at it was fine with no sign of rust. The second recall was for the windscreen wiper motor which might get water into them. Again no problem when I drive in the rain. The third recall is for the wiper motor again. I haven't done this one yet as I'm waiting for my next service.

So not exactly life threatening issues. I guess it's good Mitsi are on the front foot with their recalls, but both my wife and I laughed at the reasons for the recalls.

At least the ASX doesn't have Takata airbags.

If I was buying again I'd get the Outlander as it's a little bigger for my brood.
