eBay GST Charge Unchanged after Discount Voucher Applied

Has anyone else noticed this?

Trying to buy an item from overseas with a discount voucher (PENNY5), the GST charge remains the same after applying the code even though the actual item price reduces. As GST is meant to be 10% of the item price plus shipping, it doesn't add up.

The SELLING price hasn't reduced, the voucher is a PART payment made towards the selling price.

The 'seller' still gets the full amount.

    So this makes sense.

    • I see. Thanks for the clarification.

      • Yeah but still suxs, I don't disagree with you on that part :(

      • Voucher applies on post-GST purchases. Yes, it effectively dilutes the value of the voucher. You could say a $100 voucher is probably now only worth $90.90 post 1 July.

However, on unrelated example, my power bill GST is calculated AFTER discount (that is, list rate per Kwh x usage then the total is deducted by discount before the GST is calculated).

GST seems to treat differently if it was a voucher or discount.

    Isn't the GST great!

I love the way the gummints is cracking down on your tax and increasing it whilst it still has not closed business tax loopholes that it claimed it cared about deeply.

Why are you voting for the Liberal or Labour parties after they've demonstrated that they're interested in taxing you whilst they don't tax the rich Australia?

Because you haven't cited an alternative party to vote for.

Which party should we vote for?
