[PC] Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege $19 (Was $39.95) @ EB Games

110

This game in my opinion is one of the most addicting and fun games ever existed. I have spent countless of hours on this and still find it fun. I got this game a dollar cheaper than this deal but this is still a bargain.

This is the Standard Edition giving you all the original operators straight away without needing to grind renown for them and this cost cheaper than the Starter Edition which cost AUD$20.19 so if you still have time to refund and get this instead, I would recommend you do so.

Note: Disc copies of Rainbow Six Siege can only be redeemed on Ubisoft not Steam.

    I doubt it's more addictive than Minesweeper…

That is true, I have it on my phone and I play it every now and then.

    Vigil main?

    • +1

No actually, I haven't got the chance to get him yet however he is my favorite operator currently and I plan to get him soon.

  • I played the demo on PS4 and I just didn't get it. You stay in a room hiding, and may get to pop off one or two people.

Is that roughly accurate for the full game / experience?

It's clear that people love the game, but I just don't get it myself. Might give it a go if the digital version becomes super cheap

That's pretty typical of someone just starting out in the game but once you get used to the maps and the differences between operators then many other strategies start to present themselves.

Some operators are more suited to roaming the map trying to flank attackers, while some are more suited to staying closer to the objective. There are synergies and counters.

It's a simple game with the opportunity to be very strategic with some good communication.

    • Lol, no that isn't reflective of either the depth or current meta.

      In a way,

As the other poster mentioned, while on defence, operators can be categorised as either anchors, soft roamers or roamers.

Anchors are generally what newbies stick with as map and game sense isn't too necessary as your only goal is to defend the objective. Your armour hence, speed makes it difficult for you to flank because of the amount of noise you make while moving and also because of the speed at which you move at.

Soft roamers either stay on the objective or stay close enough to it to rotate into these two places at will and do so because their gadgets tend to favour this play style whether it be through additional cameras they can deploy or because of their two speed and two armour rating.

Roamers typically have 1 armour and three speed and rarely stay on the objective because their play style is meant for flanking and attacks from unexpected angles.

    • As others say, camping the room is just how it is when you start out. Next rounds camp the room next door and cover the hallway. Then next round, sit on the stairs and cover a few approaches.

Soon you'll be denying entry to the building by defending upstairs, then withdrawing to the stairs and holding there, before either falling back to the room of flanking back upstairs via another pathway.

It just requires lots of map knowledge which obviously comes over time. Teamwork and communication is key, that's where most of the fun is for me.

  • It was cheaper a few days ago with 20% off on EBGames eBay.

  • To be honest it is better to buy standard or Advanced edition when they are on 50% off.

    • Advanced isn't worth it unless you just want cosmetics

    • This is 50% off isn't it?

      • Better than I think.

And is about equal to (or better than) longstanding cdkey store prices.

  • Are you sure this is the standard? Couldn't find what edition it was on the website.

    • +1

I got it from EB Games exactly the same and it was Standard Edition.

cheers, i wasnt sure thanks for the deal :)

    • +2

Can confirm with the other poster. I purchased this same one from EBGames about a month ago and it is indeed the standard edition with all base operators unlocked (off the top of my head, about 8 per attacking and defense team)/

Awesome game, own it on every platform and have put hours on top of hours into it.

  • full time job with kids. should i get this? i have a few hours here and there and mostly with randoms. would this be ok for me?

    • +2

It's a tough call. Because of the setup time at the start of each round, the time between rounds picking operators, the time spent waiting/looking for contact in game, quick time to kill, lack of respawn, and the reliance on map knowledge and snappy communication, it isn't the kind of thing you will enjoy if you only play for an hour as a time, imho.

Still, if you play csgo, you know all about these factors. And it's not much more expensive than csgo.

Watch some twitch streamers and decide perhaps? Macie, remorce, plenty of options on twitch.

  • Awesome game. First time I've cracked 1000 hours in a game before. Think I'm at 1500 ATM.

Also, get a mic. Don't be a no mic scrub.
