Kogan Mobile Recharge Confusion

I just paid Kogan $180 via Paypal to recharge my prepaid phone plan. I have a confirmation email from Paypal.

Kogan have since sent me a 10 digit voucher with instructions on how to apply it.

Upon input of the voucher, the page shows no resulting discount and asks me which credit card method I prefer in order to pay $180 (again?).

Can someone help with this confusion please? I've never recharged with them before, and their chatline is offline.

TIA

  • Go through the process again, there should be a box where you enter the voucher code that you missed. I did that once and the helpdesk was kind enough to reverse the CC transaction and reset the account. Talk to helpdesk if you still can't find it or it doesn't work. Also are you logged in to your account?

    • I did enter the voucher code in the box after paying. Why do they now want CC details?

Because either you didn't enter the voucher code at the payment screen or it wasn't recognised. Talk to helpdesk.

        • I don't know what you mean by 'payment screen'. I used Paypal before receiving the voucher.

        • @aboabo: You are going to the Kogan site to apply your recharge, right? So when you choose to recharge, it will ask you how you want to pay, by voucher code, by CC or by Paypal.

As I said, talk to helpdesk, that's what they are there for.

        • @greenpossum:

I know what a helpdesk is. I'm here because they're offline (as stated in my OP).

          @aboabo: So be patient.

          @aboabo:
Calm down, we don't work for Kogan or you.

        • @Drew22:

          Then why come here?

        • @aboabo:
Wow. A real work of art you are.

I hope you get charged twice and credited nothing.

        • @Drew22:

          You keep coming back. Weird.

        • @aboabo:

It's a hobby, pays the bills too

After you put in the voucher code the amount to pay should be $0. However Kogan will still ask you for credit card details for auto-recharge. You can't seem to able to opt out from that step even if you turn off the auto-recharge.

So yeah, just put in your CC details. Kogan will try to charge a small amount (something like $1) to verify the card but will return right afterwards.

  • My Kogan Order History states:

    'Kogan Mobile Prepaid Voucher Code: SMALL (365 Days | 3GB Per 30 Days)1 x $179.90
    VOUCHER SENT: **********
    Order Total: $179.90
    Paid with Paypal'

Should I just ignore 'VOUCHER SENT: **********'?

  • This is the page I went to:

    https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-mobile-prepaid-voucher-co…

    I selected 'Existing Customer'.

    What did I just buy?

    • On that web page:

What happens after I purchase my voucher code?

After purchasing this product, you will be sent a unique Kogan Mobile vouchers by email within 24 hours and a Kogan Mobile SIM Starter Pack by post. If you are activating a new Kogan Mobile service, visit the activation centre to redeem a voucher. If you are already a Kogan Mobile customer, simply login to your account and use your voucher to recharge. Each voucher can be redeemed for an SMALL 365 Day Plan without any additional charge.

      • "If you are already a Kogan Mobile customer, simply login to your account and use your voucher to recharge."

This is what I did, but it won't let me proceed unless I apply CC details (after earlier purchasing the voucher via Paypal).

        Maybe they wanted to say:

"If you are already a Kogan Mobile customer, simply login to your account, use your voucher, and reenter your CC details to recharge."

because that is the only choice I have right now.

        • You're sure there isn't a small check box somewhere that says I have a voucher? Otherwise I don't know why they want to get your CC details again, they already have established your identity. Just wait until helpdesk is up.

    • Usually when i do it with paypal i re-enter CC details and recharge goes through

      • Do you mean the CC details only associated with Paypal? Or can I use any CC?

        • Try and see what happens?

  • I had the exact same issue last night. Just like people are saying, you need to enter your credit card details, and then it will apply your voucher code. I did this, and I haven't been charged anything on my credit card, and the voucher has been applied.

  • There is a tick to be unticked right below the text box to enter the voucher code, "Save payment method for future payments" or something like that.
Similar thing happened to me after adding the voucher code and it asked for CC details.

  • Thanks to all those who helped and especially OzB for providing the platform and means to say what Kogan won't.

  • I had similar problem yesterday. Had tried Kogan 1-month 'special' SIM - (b4 it dropped to 99c unfortunately) - but the month was up yesterday & I had paid for the 365-day 'small' a better alternative - back on 29 June, being told then that a new SIM was being dispatched. I was totally confused because why would they send a new SIM if they were going to re-use the other one, which is said somewhere..
So in the public library I was panicking away, removing old SIM, putting in new one, trying to activate it & being told 'this number is already in use' (or similar) so it would not let me proceed with the new SIM. Back in with the original one… then I got the same treatment as outlined above, & just withdrew from the whole procedure when, even though auto-recharge was 'disabled' (by my request), I kept getting repeated ('red box') requests for credit card details, even thought I'd entered the relevant voucher number.
Finally, I decided that if I didn't persevere I'd be without any phone connection, so I went ahead & filled in the voucher and cc details. Luckily, the dialogue boxes then showed "Discount price $0".
I retell this only to reiterate how cumbersome & confusing this Kogan procedure is. Hope they can do something to clarify it & save my ancient brain any more punishment next time round. (Other people's as well!)

    • Hmm, seems like a sneaky way to get people to register for autorecharge.

    • I also experienced the same until I find tick box called "Save payment method for future payments" or something like that. after unticking that we can add new voucher without CC details

  • Maybe you're in the wrong place..

Once logged in here, I clicked on recharge and an option to use "a voucher code in an email" was there
