Mobo and RAM for budget gaming PC

Hello,

I have an old spare E6500, a GTX 1050 TI and just got the EVA 750W PSU.

Can anyone suggest a mobo and RAM that would be a good buy with the current eBay tech sale to go with these parts? For my 12 year old who doesn't play high end games. She plays Sims 4, Town of Salem and Minecraft.

Thanks in advance?

E6500, woah that takes me back. Given that it's a decade old socket you aren't going to see anything in the sale promo's.

    Ebay LGA775 Boards

While you have some fancy new hardware, at the very least pair it up with an i3

  • 1050ti is a super-nice budget graphics card, it'll get bottlenecked pretty heard by such an old dual core. It'd honestly be worth trawling Gumtree and finding an i3/1st gen i5 + mobo + ram combo, then you can stick your GPU in.

  • Whoops, start over, it is an i5-6500, sorry about that.

The i5-6500 and the 1050ti should be good for 1080p @ max gfx settings for minecraft as thats not really a demanding title. Get 8GB of RAM and it should be a good little games machine! Another thing that would improve the experience would be an SSD, check the front page of ozbargain as there a few on there at the moment for excellent prices.

If you turn down some settings on some higher end games they would play acceptably at 1080p as well.

  • Yep, grabbed a SSD previously, so just a LGA 1151 mobo and RAM :)

    • Don't need anything special if you're not overclocking. You can't overclock without a K series processor anyway. Just go with a budget B250 board.

as for RAM, prices are still very high so only buy as much as you need.
