Which TV Should I Go for? (Budget $1,000)

Hi,

Just got the awesome deal of ps4 pro and now looking for a good TV. I'm torn between Hisense P7 50 inch or Kogan Series 9 MU 9500

The price difference is double and would really appreciate feedback from people who own these TVs. Is the Kogan one good for gaming or should I go for Hisense one.

Budget is a constraint here and can go to $1,000.

TIA

    Hey mate,

Looked at any Sony/Samsungs 50" 4k TVs? They can be found on sale for a bit below $900. I certainly recommend getting a named brand then getting one of those two, just due to being able to take it back to the store and getting the issue fixed right away.

    Cheers mate

    • Thanks mate.. Do you have any models in mind.. And are they 4k+hdr?

Also I thought hisense is a good brand!

      • Personally, from experience, Hisense LCDs are of cheaper quality, and wear out faster over time. This is reflected in the overall purchase price. Anecdotal evidence showed me that the best was Sony/Samsung/LG

      • Otherwise, I don't have any models in mind. But, in saying that whenever there is a Sale on TVs at JB Hifi, or Bing Lee/Harvey Norman, take a look and decide then. In store some of those guys can give super compelling deals :)

Of those 2 Hisense for sure. I recently brought a Samsung, but could have got a 'better TV' for the same price if I went the Hisense. And they have 3 year warranty.

For gaming with a PS4 Pro you want:

    • 4k @ 60hz
    • HDR10
    • HDMI 2.0a - HDMI 1.4 = 4k@30Hz, HDMI 2.0 = 4k@60Hz, HDMI 2.0a = 4k@60Hz + HDR
    • HDCP 2.2
    • Ability to disable all post-processing for games

Honestly neither of those TVs cuts the mustard. The Kogan is particularly awful. I would recommend LG, Samsung or Sony but expect to pay more than $1000. The gaming forums - particularly Xbox One X forums - compile lists of TVs that are suitable. For example:

Or accept a downgraded but still very good 1080p experience and save some money.

Check out Costco, they normally stock TCL.
