Local Bunnings won’t Price Match Discounted Items

I’m a little disappointed about my trip to Bunnings this afternoon. After seeing tons of posts over the years of “price match that at Bunnings” I finally tried my first price match with them.

Tried to price match varta AA rechargeable batteries which were on sale at Bunnings for that price two days ago anyway.

However I was told by two staff that they don’t price match discounted/sale items, they will only price match the RRP price. Not sure if this is their actual policy or I was just unlucky enough to get serviced by someone that doesn’t price match. Either way it was a bit of a wasted trip and I’m a little disappointed in their massive slogan now of “lowest prices are just the beginning”

    Did you get a sausage?

    • No sausages outside unfortunately

Stuff the "no price matching" that is the bigger travesty.

This is the policy. Doesn't mention RRP. They don't accept liquidated and non stocked items. If you want to try again sometime then print out the policy page and ask them where RRP is mentioned.

    • Yeah, I didn’t think it was only non discounted items but what can you do? Couldn’t be bothered to cause a scene and they were the only people at checkout.

Staff numbers were pretty shocking as well. I know it was 4pm on a Friday but there was no one manning the checkouts and there was no signage to explain how I’m meant to buy things.

Eventually saw people paying for stuff at the information desk and lined up there

  • Ask for the manager. Typically they dont have time for this and just give you the discount.

"If you find a cheaper price on a stocked item, we'll beat it by 10%" … false misleading advertising? Most price matches/beats I have gotten have been from other stores discounting .. so I dont get the RRP premise.

They only time I didnt get a price match/beat is when they call the local competitor store to check if they have any stock, if the competitors store is out of stock, then they dont price match/beat.

They flat out lied to you, should of asked to speak to a manager.

  • price match that at Bunnings

I don't tthink I have ever heard anyone say that, maybe officeworks but bunnings are known for getting out of price matching

    • Yes if you are looking at electronics etc, office works is the usual one but for tools deals etc from totaltools, mitre 10, masters (RIP) etc. there have been price match with Bunnings comments

As a Bunnings TM, I will tell you that price matching is an everyday occurrence.

    • All my local stores have price matching posters all over the place. Is that a common occurrence or does my local have decent management?

Send an email to the shop or ring the head office in your state and ask to speak the the area manager and explain the situation to them!!!

    • +1 Definitely send an email to head office about it. That way staff will get better training and this will help future customers wanting to price beat. I've never heard of any stores that price beat with only RRP. Doesn't that mean they will not price beat at all since all their prices are adjusted to their competitors RRP?
