Electronics/Robotics Parts Shops in Melbourne

Hi Members,

While I'm unsure whether it is the right place to ask, I thought I would give it a go.

I'm looking for electronic parts to help my child to make a model of a moon rotating around a planet. I can buy motors at Jaycar, but they don't have the shaft couplers to extend the shaft to make a horizontal arm for the moon. I'm sure there are lot of electronics / robotics interested members here and if you can recommend stores (other than Jaycar) around Melbourne (east/ south east would be less driving for me, but not a must) that would be much appreciated.

  • A model shop. Is there still the one under Flinder st Station on Flinders St. You might need to ring around.

    • Thanks Dedbny. I'll look around. Seems few around Narre Warren/Dandenong.

      • @smoz How did you go? I use to get like aluminium tubing from the hobby/model shops. That's what I was thinking if your talking about shafts. Even Bunnings have some things in the arts craft section usually behind where the tools/ paint sections are. There are balsa wood sticks I recall as well. Just depends on what you want.

        • @Dedbny, thanks for the follow-up and suggestions. Hobby shops near me don't have the 3mm ones in stock. I ordered from Amazon. Waiting it to be delivered. :)
