ServoTrack Now Available in WA

Hi everyone,

I've posted about ServoTrack before, but now I wanted to post again with an update. ServoTrack is now available in WA in addition to NSW!

Besides the easy to use map interface, common to many fuel price apps, here are the standout premium features (that you won't find in any other app):

  • Get Local Price Alerts - you can be notified when the price of petrol (specific to your local area and fuel type) has started increasing, or if there are new bargains etc. Alternatively you can specify a price threshold to alert you about (if prices have fallen below a certain amount).

  • See local trends - you can see price charts specific to your local area and fuel type, and an easy to access list of bargains.

  • Servo Price History - you can even see the history of price changes.

These premium features are available via a small monthly subscription with the free version of ServoTrack, or in full as part of the paid app ServoTrack Pro.

I'm encouraged by the number of people who have told me that they've saved over $10 each time they fill up as a result of using the app. Have a look if you haven't already!

Out of curiosity. Why would I use this over the free government FuelCheck app which has most of these features at no cost?

      • NSW data sourced using FuelCheck Data from the NSW Government.

Absolutely no reason to subscribe for this nor pay $12.99 for the 'Pro' app to be honest.

Good question. FuelCheck actually does not contain any of the premium features I listed above.

Let me explain it to you further.

      1) FuelCheck will not tell you if prices have gone up, without you manually checking the app, after prices have gone up. ServoTrack will give you an alert (push notification) when prices are about to rise. You usually have about 48 hours to find a cheap deal somewhere. This is usually a saving of 20c per litre.

      2) FuelCheck gives you a broad Sydney metropolitan trend chart and only for E10. I can tell you that depending on which part of Sydney you live, the trend is either slower or faster by a couple of days for your local area. Again, you may miss out on a price hike if you only rely on that chart. Price trends also differ slightly for different fuel types.

      3) ServoTrack will give you local trends even if you live in a rural area. Adding to point 2, if you live outside of a metro area, price trends are almost impossible to find anywhere, including FuelCheck.

      4) You cannot see the price history of a particular service station using FuelCheck. This is useful if you benchmark the current price compared to that particular service station's past prices.

      In addition:

      5) If you use Diesel, you will want to search for both regular Diesel and Premium Diesel. FuelCheck actually doesn't let you do this.

Feel free to ask any other questions.

I don't see why I need the ServoTrack app to tell me that Monday is always the cheapest day to fill up the car here in Perth…..always has been.

A quick check of the Fuelwatch website if I can be bothered will tell me where I can save another couple of cents per litre. Seems like a pointless app to me (with ads)..I'll pass

That's understandable. The Price Alert feature is really tailored to NSW consumers who don't have this service anywhere else, and don't have the luxury of WA's fuel legislation.

ServoTrack is aimed at frequent drivers checking prices on the go. If you don't like using a website, and you want a convenient and instant way to access the cheapest petrol prices on a map, ServoTrack is a handy option.
